 | Information and Links to NW Lifeguard AgenciesAll of the open-water lifeguarding agencies in the Pacific Northwest Region offer excellent employment opportunities. Typically, the Summer high season is from Memorial Day to Labor Day, but most agencies carry on reduced operations in the Spring and Fall. If you are a lifeguard or are interested in becoming a lifeguard, check out the open positions at the area nearest you. We are always looking for qualified rescue professionals who are serious about preventative lifeguarding in an open-water environment. |
| Vamos a Nadar (Let's Go Swimming) ProgramThe goal of the Vamos a Nadar (Let’s go swimming) program is to reduce the number of Hispanic drownings in Sonoma County. To reach this goal, the Water Safey Committe of Sonoma County has worked with local partners to develop and implement programs to address this problem. Vamos a Nadar, provides swim lessons and water safety education to youth participants while parents participate in a community water safety training delivered in Spanish. Upon completion of the 3-hour program, participants receive a voucher that entitles them to a two-week session of swim lessons at a greatly reduced price (~$15 cost per participant). Since 2004 we have delivered this water safety program and free swim lesson to over 200 Hispanic children, and 300 parents.  | The open water Junior Lifeguard Camp is designed to provide children 9-16 years old with knowledge and respect for the open water environment at lakes and beaches. This program will boost self confidence and physical conditioning in youth, while providing a safe and fun learning environment with a multitude of team building opportunities. Upon successful completion all participants will Certified in Junior Open Water Lifeguard, American Red Cross CPR & First Aid, and become a member of the U.S.L.A.
